 Heritage of Gujarat ( 10 Days / 9 Nights )

On Arrival in Mumbai we further take a connecting flight To Ahmedabad. Assistance at The Airport and proceed To Jambhugodha. Assistance on Arrival. Check into the Hotel. Evening Visit the Village. Overnight at Jambhugodha.

 
 

After breakfast we drive towards Chotta Udepur to see various colorful tribal belts which are quiet a unique feature of Gujarat’s traditional and cultural living style. Visit the tribal museum, also the Bhils and Rathwa tribal villages around the town known for their colorful attires, dances and pristine cultures. Native handicrafts like Pithora wall painting, pottery, terra cotta figures and arrow crating thrive hare. The Chhota Udepur tribals are famous for their pottery, they make terrecota tribal horse gods that protect them and their crops from the evil eye. They also make mud wall hangings painted and decorated with mirrors. Overnight at Kali Niketan, originally called Nahar Mahal. This palatial mansion was built about 100 years ago as the summer residence of the royal family of Chhota Udepur.

 
 

After Breakfast we drive towards Velavadar via Champaner Heritage Site declared as one of the hundred endangered architectural monument of the World. After visiting Champaner we further proceed to Velavadar. By early evening we reach Velavadar. Overnight At the Black Buck Lodge.

 
 

An early morning safari into the wildlife sanctuary is scheduled for us to observe the Black Bucks inhabiting this beautiful place. Return back from Safari and we proceed to Lothal which is approx 80 kms from here with our packed lunch. It is one of the southernmost outposts of the Indus civilization, and certainly one of the most interesting of Harrapan town planning. An interesting trip to the ruins and the museum is worth. Return back to the Black Buck Lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

 
 

Post Breakfast we drive towards Palitana. The Palitana temples are considered to be the most sacred. Located on Shetrunjaya hills there are 863 temples, exquisitely carved in marble. No one is allowed to sleep overnight including the priest, because the temple city has been built as an abode for the Gods. Post Lunch in Palitana we drive further drive to Post lunch we drive to Gir National Park. On arrival check into the Lion Safari Camp. Evening to relax at this beautiful resort. Overnight at the resort.

 
 

GIR NATIONAL PARK is the last remaining bastion of the Asiatic Lion. It also has the highest population of Leopards compared to any other national park in making it one of the best places in India to see the Big Cats. The Kamleshwar dam in the middle of the sanctuary is home to a record population of marsh crocodiles. Other wildlife includes Chital (spotted dear), Nilgai (blue bull), Wild boar, Jackals, Hyenas, etc. Gir National Park also has over 300 different varieties of birds. An early morning Safari into this fascinating forest is scheduled. Return back from the Safari for the breakfast. Relax in the afternoon and again embark the custom made vehicles for the evening Safari. Overnight at the resort.

 
 

Post Breakfast we again hit the road and drive towards Junagarh which holds a quaint charm for tourists with its amazing Ashokan Rock Edicts, the famous Junagarh fort and other monuments. The Uparkot fort,Junagadh being the most important amongst all, it was erected around the times of the Mauryan dynasty and houses the Jami Masjid, Tomb of Nuri Shah, the Buddhist caves and the two multi-staired step wells or Baulis as they used to call it. Almost nothing remains of the mosque except its ruins. The Buddhist caves date back to 200 B.C to 200 A.D and are examples of excellent architectural brains in the form of air-conditioned rooms, meditation rooms and grand arches with Gothic taste. Lunch at a restaurant in Junagarh. After relaxing for some time we further drive to reach Gondal, a princely town of considerable importance and affluence. Visit the 1748 AD Naulakha Palace which houses the erstwhile ruling family’s private collection of beadwork, textiles, brassware, hand-painted toys and silver crafts, the centre promoting weaving at Gondal, and the historic buildings of Gondal. Evening visit to Khadi Plaza, one of Gujarat’s major handloom weaving units. Stay at Riverside Palace/Orchard Palace, both of which are decorated with textiles from the former Maharanis’ collections. The Royal Family of Gondal is a proud owner of several vintage cars worth seeing.

 
 

After Breakfast we drive towards Wankaner. The most attracting feature of Wankaner is its palace. The palace visible from a distance is quite grand and beautiful. Peacocks arrogantly perambulate on the grass, their presence amplifying the majestic aura of the place. A watchtower stands at the peak of one of the hills behind the palace that was once used for identifying approaching enemies. Overnight at the Wankaner Palace or the Royal Oasis & the Residency.

 
 

After an early breakfast drive to Ahmedabad (220 Kms.). Rest of the day to relax in the hotel or explore the bazaars of Ahmedabad to pick some last minute souvenirs for friends back home. Evening visit the Sabarmati Ashram. Overnight At Ahmedabad

 
 

On the final day of our trip to explore the Heritage of Gujarat, we further reach the domestic airport to board our flight further to our onwards journey.
