Arrival in Ahmedabad. Transfer to the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing of Ahmedabad, including the ashram, now a museum from where Late Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi, also “Father of the Nation” started the famous Salt March.

 
 

post breakfast we proceed to lothal, 87 kms south from ahmedabad. one of the southernmost outposts of the indus civilisation, and certainly one of the most interesting of harrapan townplanning, lothal is around 80 kms from ahmedabad. an interesting trip to the ruins and the museum is worth. further we proceed to palace utelia for lunch. post lunch we further drive to velavadar. check into the black buck lodge. an evening safari into the national park is scheduled for us. return back from the safari in the late evening. enjoy the eveing entertainment and a great dinner at the lodge.

 
 

Early wakes up call to visit the sanctuary to finally say a good bye to these beautiful antelopes and other animals in the park. return back from the safari to the lodge. post breakfast we drive towards palitana. the palitana temples are considered to be the most sacred. located on shetrunjaya hills there are 863 temples, exquisitely carved in marble. no one is allowed to sleep overnight including the priest, because the temple city has been built as an abode for the gods. post lunch in palitana we drive further to diu. arrive diu in the evening. check into the hotel and relax.

 
 

Diu a former portuguese enclave, and now a union territory, is steeped in history. it was a seaport and naval base of considerable strategic importance from the 14th to 16th centuries. it was also a vital trade link with the rest of india for traders overseas. relax at the beach or spend the day discovering the town. overnight at the hotel in diu.

 
 

Gir national park is the last remaining bastion of the Asiatic lion. it also has the highest population of leopards compared to any other national park in making it one of the best places in India to see the big cats. the kamleshwar dam in the middle of the sanctuary is home to a record population of marsh crocodiles. other wildlife includes chital (spotted dear), nilgai (blue bull), wild boar, jackals, hyenas, etc. Gir national park also has over 300 different varieties of birds. an early morning safari into this fascinating forest is scheduled. return back from the safari for the breakfast. relax in the afternoon and again embark the custom made vehicles for the evening safari. overnight at the resort.

 
 

Post breakfast we again hit the road and drive towards junagarh which holds a quaint charm for tourists with its amazing ashokan rock edicts, the famous junagarh fort and other monuments. the uparkot fort,junagadh being the most important amongst all, it was erected around the times of the mauryan dynasty and houses the jami masjid, tomb of nuri shah, the buddhist caves and the two multi-staired step wells or baulis as they used to call it. almost nothing remains of the mosque except its ruins. the buddhist caves date back to 200 b.c to 200 a.d and are examples of excellent architectural brains in the form of air-conditioned rooms, meditation rooms and grand arches with gothic taste. lunch at a restaurant in junagarh. after relaxing for some time we further drive to reach gondal, a princely town of considerable importance and affluence. visit the 1748 ad naulakha palace which houses the erstwhile ruling family’s private collection of beadwork, textiles, brassware, hand-painted toys and silver crafts, the centre promoting weaving at gondal, and the historic buildings of gondal. evening visit to khadi plaza, one of gujarat’s major handloom weaving units. stay at riverside palace/orchard palace, both of which are decorated with textiles from the former maharanis’ collections. the royal family of gondal is a proud owner of several vintage cars worth seeing.

 
 

In the morning after breakfast your journey continues to bhuj. on the way view the museums and palaces of royal family of kutch located at bhuj. on arrival we visit the district collector’s office to procure several permissions to visit the prohibited area in kutch sector. in the evening proceed to your hotel arrival at the infinity rann of kutch, a beautiful resort strategically placed near bhuj. evening visit the nakhatrana villages for kutch rabari embroidery. overnight at the resort.

 
 

Early morning enjoy a birdwatching safari at the chari fulay reserve - which has a large variety of migratory birds. proceed onwards to visit the famous banni villages known for their rich traditional tribes and their amazing arts and crafts. also visit the white rann – an amazing natural desert landscape. lunch at hodka village in the banni area. on the way back, visit the textile towns of nirona followed by visits to than monastery & fossil farm at than-dhinodhar.

 
 

In the morning leave for little rann of kutch. enjoy an evening wildlife & birdwatching safari in the little rann of kutch wild ass sanctuary in search of endangered desert wildlife like the wild ass and witness the sunset at a lake that attracts flamingos, pelicans, cranes and other attractive birds in large numbers.

 
 

In the morning proceed on an excursion to the sun temple at Modhera that dates back to the early 11th century and then continue to Ahmedabad for your onward journey.
