Adhai-Din Ka-Jhonpra

Ajmer, a picturesque city surrounded by green hills is prominent in the map of Rajasthan. Its historical importance lies deeply etched in its monuments and other architectural splendors. Founded by Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan, in the 7th century, Ajmer became home to many dynasties since Prithviraj Chauhan lost it to Muhammad Ghori in 1193 A.D. An important place of pilgrimage for both Hindus and Muslims, Ajmer is known for the famous Dargah Sharif tomb of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. Ajmer is also famous for its Adhai - Din Ka- Jhonpra, a great example of Indo-Islamic architecture.

Ana Sagar Lake

The beauty of Ajmer is known to the travelers very well. The city is visited by thousands every year chiefly for the holy shrine of Dargah Sharif, Ajmer which has been the major crowd puller. Dargah of Muin-ud-din Chishti

Situated at the foot of a hill and in the old part of town, this is one of the most important places in india for muslim pilgrims. The Dargah is the tomb of a Suffi saint, Khwaja Muin-ud-din Chishti, who came to Ajmer from Persia in 1192 and died here in 1236. Construction of this shrine was completed by Humayun and the gate was added by the Nizam of Hyderabad. Akhbar used to make the pilgrimage to the Dargah from Agra once a year.

Government Museum

One of the most attractive propositions of the city of Ajmer that narrates the rich history of the place and preserves it with utmost care is the Ajmer Government Museum, Ajmer.
