Bhadra Fort

Bhadra Fort is one of the worth visiting places of the city where the republic day celebration is a popular event organized every year on January 26th. The fort has derived its name from the Mother Goddess Bhadrakali whose temple is also present inside the fort. One can climb to the roof of the fort for viewing the panorama of the city.

Calico museum

Calico museum displays outstanding collection of textiles which include royal tents, carpets and costumes; religious paintings on cloth, embroiders, brocades, Kashmiri shawls and silk weaves are also on display which date back to 17th and 18th centuries. These rare materials are displayed in an old haveli located at Shahi Bagh, north of Delhi Gate. The museum was established by Sarabhai family, leading textile mill owners and philanthropists of Gujarat.

Law Garden

There are few gardens in Ahmedabad which provide recreation and amusements to the city dwellers. Law Garden is a public Garden situated near the Nanavati Law College. The market outside the garden is famous for shops selling various handicrafts.

Sabarmati Ashram

This prudent colony of tiled houses was once the second home to the father of the nation – Mahatma Gandhi. It was the place where Gandhiji had started his final struggle for India’s freedom. His cottage “Hriday Kunj” is a well maintained house, now preserves the personal items of Gandhiji such as his round eye glasses, wooden sleepers, his personal letters, books and spinning wheel etc. The ashram has one museum known as “Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalay” which houses photographs, commentaries and other personal belongings of Gandhiji.

Teen Darwaza

Teen Darwaza or Tripple Gate is a place which was used for the purpose of royal entrance to the Royal Square of the Bhadra Fort. From atop the gate, the emperor Jehangir used to watch the colourful processing going from the palace to the nearby Jama Masjid. The gate has strong bastions and finely carved designs which are creative and beautiful. The road towards the Teen Darwaza is lined with shops selling block prints, silverwares and other handy-craft items
